Assessing Department
Services:
The Assessing Department is responsible for maintaining and updating the town's property assessment records, conducting periodic property inspections and valuation update programs, providing assessing and sales information to the general public, and delivering an updated tax assessment roll to the tax collector for semi-annual tax billing.
The department also handles tax abatements, current use classification, timber tax, elderly exemptions, and veteran tax credits.
If you feel you may be eligible, you must apply prior to March 1st for tax abatements, and prior to April 15th for all other requests to be considered for the next tax cycle.
